MANILA, Philippines -- A chain store staff is facing child abuse charges for allegedly beating up the 16-year-old son of actress-comedian Ai-ai Delas Alas.
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) slapped Mini Stop employee Melvin C. Buceta and security guard Florentino Ermitano with charges of child abuse, illegal detention and grave threat.
In her complaint filed January 8, Delas Alas, whose real name is Eileen, told NBI investigators that the employees of Mini Stop branch on P. Noval Street, Manila grabbed her son by the collar ?threw him with force and boxed him with force on the lower back, in full view of the people inside the store.?
?The security guard stood nearby, obviously to make sure that my son could not fight back or escape," the actress said in the complaint she filed on behalf of her son.
Delas Alas, who is a resident of Quezon City, said her son had allegedly been mistaken for a shoplifter.
She said her son was brought to the storeroom where he was allegedly verbally abused, calling him a thief and a liar.
