MANILA, Philippines -- "Now, Kris is in the hospital, too.?

With this statement, manager and ABS-CBN executive Deo Endrinal told the Philippine Daily Inquirer that TV host Kris Aquino has lost her baby -- her second pregnancy with basketball player James Yap -- on Tuesday.

This latest crisis came quick on the heels of the Aquino family?s announcement on Monday that Kris? mom, former president Corazon Aquino, is suffering from colon cancer.

Just a day before the miscarriage, Kris had accompanied her mother to the hospital, where the latter underwent a series of medical procedures, said Endrinal.

Kris, who was an out-patient in a Makati hospital, told the Inquirer via SMS on Tuesday morning: ?Seven and half weeks of pregnancy ended in miscarriage because my gestational sac has collapsed and the ovum is blighted.?

?Both Kris and Tita Cory were out-patients. They?re both home already,? said Endrinal on Tuesday afternoon.

The news was relayed to Kris by her obstetrician-gynecologist Greg Pastorfide.

Kris remains upbeat, according to friend and co-host Boy Abunda. ?She told me that she?s happy because her mom ate the food she had prepared for her. Siya ang nagpakain. [She helped her mom eat.]?

Mom and daughter are virtually inseparable, said Abunda. ?Since Kris knows that a patient who?s undergoing chemotherapy can get depressed easily, she fusses over her mom.?

In her SMS message to the Inquirer Kris said: ?I feel this [miscarriage] is God?s way to ensure that I can take care of my mom.?

Endrinal said that his ward wants to ?spend as much time with her mom as possible.?

?She?s even willing to make sacrifices in her career,? Abunda said. ?She is trying to manage her time well. She will not think twice about giving up an assignment if it means more time with her mom.?

Abunda said that before receiving news of the miscarriage, Kris had adequately prepared herself. ?She told me: ?If I?m pregnant, then there?s reason to celebrate. If not, then it?s God?s will and I can devote more time caring for my mom.? Now, her main concern is her mother. Kris? entire world revolves around Tita Cory now.?

In the middle of her personal health crisis, Kris visited her mom who was confined in the same hospital.

She said her mom is thankful for the people?s concern and prayers. ?When I got to my mom?s hospital room [this morning], she said that the Inquirer headline that the ?nation prays for her? really touched her deeply.?
