MANILA, Philippines?Filipino-American Ramiele Malubay got the ax Wednesday night (Thursday morning in Manila) on Fox?s ?American Idol? leaving eight hopefuls for the coveted prize.

Malubay got the lowest votes from viewers who saw her rendition of Dolly Parton?s ?Do I Ever Cross Your Mind? as unsatisfactory, echoing judge Simon Cowell?s comment that her performance was something ?you would see and hear on a cruise ship.?

The diminutive singer from Miramar, Florida had acknowledged after the show that she had difficulty in performing country music.
