Comedian Jerry Seinfeld in not-so-funny car crash

NEW YORK -- US television comedian Jerry Seinfeld was involved in serious accident when the brakes on his vintage car failed, but walked away without serious injury, The New York Post reported Thursday.
Seinfeld, who became a billionaire thanks to the globally-syndicated comedy show named after him, was driving in the exclusive Hamptons region of Long Island, east of New York City, when the brakes failed and the car flipped over, the paper said.
Miraculously, the comic walked away "without a scratch," the paper quoted his wife Jessica as saying.
"He was a little shocked when he walked in and it started to dawn on him what happened," she said. "I was extremely relieved and grateful and I'm feeling very lucky that nothing happened."
The incident occurred on Saturday evening, when Seinfeld was driving alone and realized the brakes were not working. He pulled the wheel hard to the right, to avoid hitting other traffic, and the car rolled over.
The 1967 Fiat BTM rolled first onto the passenger side then the roof and came to rest on the driver's side, according to the report, which said police blamed mechanical failure. The television star had not been drinking.
Seinfeld, who is believed to own 47 Porsches among a large vintage car collection, did not require medical attention.
"Because I know there are kids out there, I want to make sure they all know that driving without braking is not something I recommend, unless you have professional clown training or a comedy background, as I do," the paper quoted Seinfeld as saying.
"It is not something I plan to make a habit of."
