MANILA, Philippines -- A benefit concert to raise money to rehabilitate schools and other structures destroyed by typhoon “Cosme” (international codename: Halong) in Alaminos City will be held at the Acropolis Clubhouse in Libis, Quezon City on June 9.

The show starts at 7 p.m.

Proceeds of the concert will go directly to the city government for the rehabilitation of 34 public schools and other infrastructure as well as the agricultural and tourism aspects estimated at P238 million.

“The city needs to raise some amount and start the repair. The children and other victims of typhoon Cosme, are in need of our help. Our mission is to help and make a difference,” said HI-TREC and Alaminos 100, both non-governmental organizations devoted to empower people and at the same time, to look after the tourism of the Hundred Islands National Park.

Expected to attend the affair are former president Fidel V. Ramos, Senators Juan Miguel Zubiri and Francis Escudero, RCBC chairman and Ambassador Alfonso Yuchengco, Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. chairman Manny Pangilinan, Energy Secretary Angelo Reyes, Quezon City Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr., Philippine National Police Director General Avelino Razon Jr., Agriculture Secretary Arthur Yap, former PNP chief Arturo Lumibao, Cabinet Secretary Silvestre Bello III, and Caloocan City Mayor Enrico Echiverri.

Those who could not buy tickets could help in other ways, according to HI-TREC and Alaminos 100. “Attending the concert for a cause is not the only way to donate,” it said.

Various cultural and choral performers are featured to showcase their world-class talent and to work for little or no pay.

Mayor Hernani Braganza expressed his gratitude to the two organizations and the donors.
