LOS ANGELES -- Roman Polanski has lined up an all-star cast for his next film "The Ghost," an adaptation of British author Robert Harris's political thriller of the same name, it was reported Thursday.

Oscar-winning actors Nicolas Cage and Tilda Swinton as well as former 007 Pierce Brosnan have all signed to star in the film, Variety reported.

Cage will play a ghostwriter who is hired to finish the memoirs of a former British prime minister (Brosnan) after his predecessor is found dead in mysterious circumstances.

Swinton, who won a best supporting actress Oscar this year for her portrayal of a scheming lawyer in the corporate thriller "Michael Clayton", will play the prime minister's wife, Variety reported.

Polanski, 74, a best director Oscar-winner in 2003 for "The Pianist," turned his attention to "The Ghost" after pulling out of the historical epic "Pompeii."

Cage most recently appeared in action adventure "National Treasure: Book of Secrets." He will next be seen in the Thailand crime drama "Bangkok Dangerous," due for release later this year.
