CHER Calvin, anchor of KTLA CW, is again nominated for an Emmy award, the most prestigious distinction for top television programs in the United States this September.
Cher has won one already in 2007, when her show “KTLA Morning News: First/Early Edition” in Los Angeles, California won as Best Newscast in the recently-concluded Emmy Awards.
Calvin joined KTLA/CW more than three years ago after working at Las Vegas’ Fox affiliate KVVU as co-anchor in the station’s “FOX5 News This Morning.” Her KTLA News special “Access Asia” won her the prestigious Golden Mike Award from the Radio & Television News Association.
Calvin was part of the early days of ABS-CBN’s UHF television station Studio 23, where she hosted the talk show “Points of View.” She honed her newscasting skills on “News Central Primetime,” which won her a KBP (Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas) Golden Dove Awards, the local Emmy Awards equivalent, in 2002 for Best Newscast.
“I’m keeping my fingers crossed,” said Cher that her morning program would win again.
