TOKYO?Asian-American model and singer Leah Dizon, who has a wide fan base as a sex symbol in Japan and neighboring countries, dropped a bombshell Wednesday as she vowed to take a break to have a baby.

The 22-year-old told a packed news conference that she secretly married a man in Tokyo last week when she was already four months' pregnant.

"He is a (fashion) stylist. Uh, 29 years old. He is slim," she said without revealing her husband's name. "He is smart."

Dizon, who launched her modelling career in Japan two years ago with a blockbuster photobook, said she met her future husband in January when they worked together in producing a promotional video.

Asked what made him fall for her, Dizon answered loudly and somewhat cryptically in two English words: "Big peach."

"It is a little bit, sort of, difficult to explain," she said when she was pressed for the meaning of the phrase.

Dizon first revealed her pregnancy and marriage in a surprise statement at the end of a lively two-hour performance before 1,000 people in Tokyo on Tuesday, according to local media. She drew applause after a stunned silence.

Dizon was born in the US gambling haven of Las Vegas to a Chinese-Filipino father, a pastor, and a French-American mother, a casino director.

She worked as a model in Los Angeles after graduating from high school. Her website attracted two million hits from Japan and other Asian nations and she eventually landed a contract with a talent agency in Tokyo.

Her first photobook "Petite Amie," published here in October 2006, has sold 100,000 copies, far above the 10,000 mark which is considered a best-seller for such a publication. Her second photobook "Hello! Leah" has also sold 100,000.
