BEVERLY HILLS?Period love story "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" emerged as the front-runner for the 81st Academy Awards here Thursday after earning 13 nominations.

Rags-to-riches love story "Slumdog Millionaire" was second with 10 nominations while Batman blockbuster "Dark Knight" scored eight.
