MANILA, Philippines -- Former president Corazon Aquino led personalities from politics and show business who visited the wake of Francis Magalona Saturday night.
Magalona died past noon Friday from complications caused by acute leukemia or a form of cancer of the blood, close to seven months after he was diagnosed of with the disease.
Aquino, who is also suffering from cancer, said in an interview with media that she wanted to condole with Magalona's widow Pia, being one herself after then Senator Benigno Aquino Jr. was assassinated on Aug.21, 1983 upon returning home to the country from the US where he stayed for several years with his wife and children.
Aquino also said that Pia Arroyo-Magalona was a strong woman who was coping for the sake of their eight children.
Aside from Aquino, Senator Richard Gordon also visited the wake.
Show business personalities who were seen at Christ The King in Green Meadows in Quezon City were Tony Rose Gaida, her mother, Rosal Rosal; singer-composer Ogie Alcasid, .Michael V., ,Dominic Ochoa, former senator Tito Sotto, Mark Herras, Rainier Castillo,Bibeth Orteza.
