MANILA, Philippines ? He may have not lived long, but Francis Magalona, known as the country?s ?Master Rapper,? fulfilled his mission in bringing Filipinos together through his music, his daughter said.
Maxene Magalona said her father had made it his mission in life to create change and promote nationalism through his music and even in his clothing business.
Wearing a shirt bearing Francis Magalona?s face and the words ?One Love,? Maxene explained she was glad her father was able to get his message across before he passed away. The rapper died of multiple organ failure last Friday at the Medical City after a close to a seven-month battle with leukemia.
?Ever since, it was papa?s mission to bring people together?na maging proud sila lahat sa bansa nila, sa pagiging Pinoy [that they all be proud of their country, of being Filipino],? Maxene told reporters Monday.
?This t-shirt, together with all his songs he left behind will serve as a reminder to everyone in this country and to all the Filipino people that we need to be united and we should love each other,? Maxene said.
More personalities from politics and show business continue to pay their respects to Magalona who is interred at the Christ the King Church in Green Meadows, Quezon City.
Vice President Noli de Castro sent flowers.
Broadway star Lea Salonga, model Sarah Meier, singer Kitchie Nadal, and veteran actress Gloria Romero, were seen at the wake.
Meanwhile, hundreds of fans flocked to Magalona?s wake, some even wearing t-shirts from FMMC, Magalona?s clothing line.
?Ngayon ko lang talaga naintindihan kung gaano kamahal ng mga tao si papa [It?s only now that I?m beginning yo understand how much people love papa]. [There were people] from all walks of life, there was an 80-year-old woman the other day and she traveled all the way from wherever she came from but she came just to see my dad,? said Maxene, who would want to continue her dad?s legacy in show business.
