MANILA, Philippines ? (UPDATE) Senators rejected a request by the camp of beauty doctor Hayden Kho to conduct their investigation on his sex videos on Thursday in an executive session.
The senators ignored a threat by Kho's camp to stage a walk out if the committee on youth, women, and family relations insisted on a public hearing.
"I want to make this public," said Senator Jose "Jinggoy" Estrada.
Senator Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr. seconded Estrada?s motion.
Estrada and Revilla were the only members of the committee, aside from its chairperson, Senator Ana Consuelo Madrigal, who were present at the hearing.
The hearing began shortly before 3 p.m. It was originally scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m.
Kho and one of his partners in the sex videos, actress Katrina Halili, were at the Senate but they were not inside the hearing room.
In a letter to the committee dated May 26, Hayden's lawyer, Lorna Kapunan, requested the hearing be done in an executive hearing so as not to further embarrass the parties involved in the controversy.
In a separate letter to the committee, however, Halili's camp insisted that the hearing be done in public view.
Kapunan reiterated the request of her client during the hearing.
