MANILA, Philippines? The camp of actress Yasmien Kurdi lashed back at her home network Thursday for allegedly meddling in the sexual harassment case filed by the actress against actor Baron Geisler.
Kurdi?s legal counsel, Ferdinand Topacio, said in an interview that GMA Network was allegedly exerting pressure on Kurdi to reconcile with Geisler for still unclear reasons.
Topacio cited a news item aired on Kurdi?s home network Wednesday night where Kurdi was quoted as saying she was willing to withdraw the acts of lasciviousness and unjust vexation charges she filed against Geisler.
But Topacio said Kurdi was just misquoted.
?We had made it clear that we will not withdraw the complaint already filed against Mr. Geisler,? Topacio said in his letter addressed to GMA?s vice president for television Marivin Arayata and a certain Lilibeth Rasonable.
Topacio also said that despite asking GMA Network to delete any scenes of Kurdi and Geisler together in an upcoming local soap, the network failed to do so.
?Napag-usapan na hindi bibigyan ng scene [Kurdi and Geisler] na magkasama and they will just tie up the loose ends but when [Kurdi] acquired the script, the scenes were still there,? Topacio said.
Kurdi?s camp also alleged that undue pressure was being exerted by ?certain persons connected with GMA? to reconcile Kurdi and Geisler.
?Kinukulit si Yasmien na magkaruon ng face-to-face conversation with Geisler,? Topacio said, adding that he had to give Kurdi two security escorts to protect her against Geisler.
Topacio also alleged that GMA Network had forced Kurdi to talk to Geisler?s lawyer on the phone.
?Kung ayaw makipag-usap, let?s leave it at that because it will only aggravate the situation,? he said.
Topacio appealed to GMA Network to respect Kurdi and ?do not interfere? on the case filed against Geisler.
?We must remind you that our client, a woman of good breeding and reputation, is the offended party. Any action on the part of GMA to downplay Mr. Geisler?s criminal acts or dilute our remedies will not be ignored,? Topacio said in his letter.
Kurdi?s camp is set to submit a supplemental affidavit on Saturday to the police Women?s and Children?s Protection Center to support the earlier complaint Kurdi filed against the actor.
