MANILA, Philippines -- The Quezon City prosecutor's office has dismissed a complaint against actor John Lloyd Cruz for allegedly violating provisions of the Tax Reform Act of 1997.
In a resolution, the city prosecutor found no probable cause to charge the actor with violating sections 5 and 11 of the Tax Reform Act.
The Bureau of Internal Revenue earlier filed a complaint against Cruz, alleging that the actor did not present his accounting records for 2004 despite a subpoena issued to him.
The city prosecutor however said it was premature to prosecute the actor for failing to appear before the BIR as Cruz availed of the Enhanced Voluntary Assessment Program, which Cruz said exempted him from the BIR audit.
