MANILA, Philippines?Showbiz celebrity Kris Aquino, youngest sister of presidential aspirant Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III, said she has taken offense that her brother was being ?politically attacked? for a ?domestic issue that does not even involve him directly.?

In a phone interview Friday, Kris denied confronting and shouting insults at Mayen Austria, a female fan of her husband, basketball star James Yap, on Wednesday. The incident reportedly happened just outside the Austria residence at Valle Verde 2 Subdivision in Pasig City.

A witness said the movie actress and TV host showed up at the gate of the Austrias around 4 p.m. Wednesday to confront Mayen. The source said Aquino threw invectives at Mayen and her mother Minna.

Mayen?s uncle, Gabby Lopez, in an interview with the Philippine Daily Inquirer, refused to elaborate on the incident but said: ?I now know who I will not vote for."

Noynoy is the Liberal Party standard-bearer in the May elections.

Aquino said: ?In my 25 years of being in the public eye, nobody can ever say that it is in my nature na magmura or gumawa ng iskandalo. I didn?t shout or create a commotion. [Mayen?s mother] graciously came to their gate and we had a peaceful conversation.?

?Their gate is five meters away from their front door, which at that time was open. If they really had guests that day at nagmura at nagsisgaw ako, maririnig nila ako. Nobody came out to stop me,? she added.

Aquino said she was ?very polite? when she expressed her ?discomfort about [Mayen?s] actuations? towards Yap.

?Mrs. Austria said it was all just a misunderstanding. I told her, ?I?m sorry to be disturbing you, but I just had to come here. It makes me uncomfortable that your daughter is calling my husband,?? Aquino said.

?At this time, [Mayen] came out. She said James called her up to tell her that I?m on my way, and to just say sorry to me. She said, ?I don?t know why I should. I?ve done nothing wrong.??

Aquino added: ?I told her, ?As a wife I?m telling you that it?s wrong. Why do you have to cry to my husband about your boyfriend leaving you when the guy is not even a friend of James??? I said to the mom, ?Thank you. I hope your daughter would stop calling James,? and then I left.?

According to Kris, she and Yap were having lunch on Wednesday when the latter took a call.

?James was just in front of me. I heard a woman crying. She told James, ?What?s wrong with me? Ginawa ko naman ang lahat.? James said ?Kung ayaw na sa ?yo ?wag mong pagpilitan.? Then I heard a really loud cry. I think the name of the boyfriend is Cahahug.?

Aquino related: ?I told James that when we were still having problems, I didn?t cry about my problems to another guy, more so to a married guy. I said I would talk with her kasi hindi maganda ang ginagawa. Maybe she thought I only exist on TV.?

Aquino said she knew of Mayen because of the Austrias? pastry business. ?We used to order cupcakes and cookies from them. Way back, she even reminded me that we were schoolmates,? Aquino recalled. ?Of late, she would send boxes of food to the house but always with cards that were addressed only to James, na parang walang pamilya si James. I told James that if she wanted to give food to the team, ipadala n?ya during practice.?

Aquino pointed out that, like her, any wife would do anything to salvage her marriage. ?With my experience while I was still pregnant with Baby James (her second son, with Yap), mas gugustuhin ko nang malaman ang totoo for myself. I don?t want to be the last to know.?

In 2007, Yap was rumored to have had romantic liaisons with Hope Centeno, then a receptionist at the Belo Medical Clinic, which Aquino used to endorse. Yap denied any involvement with Centeno.

?James told me naawa s?ya because he saw [Mayen] once with a bandage on her wrist. Apparently, she tried to commit suicide. I told James, she needs a psychiatrist, not you,? said. Aquino.

Aquino said that at 6 p.m. Wednesday, she received a call from a friend asking if it was true that she quarreled with a woman over Yap. ?[I learned that the information] came from the girl?s uncle. You see, nobody from my family spoke about this. I just want to know why sa kanila nanggagaling at bakit nadamay si Noy? ? said Aquino.

?A portion of the text message that [Mayen] sent to a lot of people said: ?Does Kris deserve to be in Malacañang?? I gust want to put things in the right context. Why is the issue being used as a political weapon against my brother??

The actress-TV host said she was grateful to Mrs. Austria for turning down requests from TV shows for interview.

?She said she just wanted the issue to die. Sana ?wag na palikihin pa further. I apologize to Mrs. Austria, Mayen?s mother because, just like my brother Noy, she has become involved in a matter that should really have been settled between husband and wife.?
