CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna ? A former member of the Philippine Navy and a village chief were killed in separate incidents in Cavite province in the past 24 hours, a police official said Wednesday.
Armando Tamio, 56, a retired member of the Navy, sustained a gunshot wound in the head after a lone gunman attacked him at around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday in Bucal village in Tanza town, Cavite, Senior Superintendent Primitivo Tabujara, Cavite police director, said in a text message.
Tamio was on his way home, also in the village, when he was slain.
In another attack, a motorcycle-riding assailant shot dead Reynaldo Domingo, 64, village chief of Barangay (village) 23 in Cavite City at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday.
The victim was in the nearby village when the gunman stopped and fired several shots at him.
Manhunt operations were conducted to track down the still unidentified assailants.
