MANILA, Philippines?Senator Manny Villar on Wednesday said he did not pay a single centavo to get the endorsement of comedy king Dolphy and noontime show host Willie Revillame.
?Hindi namin binabayaran yan (We are not paying for that),? Villar told reporters after attending a forum in Makati City.
?Hindi si Willie. Si Dolphy, hindi sya binabayaran diyan (Not Willie. And Dolhy is not being paid for that),? he said, ?Alam mo si Dolphy taga Tondo din kaya malaki ang pinagsamahan namin (You know, Dolphy is also from Tondo so we?ve shared a lot together).?
?Alam mo, ang totoo n?yan mas marami ang (artista) sa kabila (The truth is there are more (celebrities) in the other camp),? Villar said, apparently referring to the camp of Senator Benigno ?Noynoy? Aquino III, his strongest rival in the upcoming presidential elections.
Aquino, brother of popular TV host Kris Aquino-Yap, used a number of celebrities in his first political advertisement on television.
?I think around 12,? Villar said, answering a question from a reporter.
On the other hand, he said the movie and television stars supporting his candidacy came from poor socio-economic backgrounds. ?That?s why they can better relate to me,? said Villar.
