Lohan escapes arrest over alcohol tag alarm

LOS ANGELES ? Lindsay Lohan avoided an embarrassing arrest for breaching bail conditions Tuesday after an alarm on a alcohol monitoring bracelet the actress was forced to wear went off.

Judge Marsha Revel issued an arrest warrant after ordering Lohan's lawyer and a prosecutor to appear at Beverly Hills Superior Court.

It followed a report that an alarm was triggered on Lohan's Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitor (SCRAM) device as she attended a party following the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday.

The arrest warrant was later recalled after a bondsman acting for Lohan paid a ten-percent portion of bail set at 200,000 dollars.

Lohan herself had earlier taken to micro-blogging site Twitter to refute the reports in a furious denial.

"My SCRAM wasn't set off .. All of these false reports are absolutely wrong," Lohan tweeted. "This is all because of a FALSE accusation by tabloids & paparazzi," added Lohan, describing the reports as "disgusting."

"I've been more than I'm (sic) compliance & feeling great," she wrote.

Lohan was ordered to wear the bracelet -- which detects alcohol use by analyzing perspiration of the wearer -- at a hearing on May 24 after she had failed to appear for an earlier court date.

Lohan, 23, was arrested for driving under the influence three years ago. After a stay in rehab, she was caught two months later for drunk driving and cocaine possession. She served a mere 84 minutes in jail after the arrests.

She was also sentenced to 10 hours of community service.

The queen of Hollywood nights and a favorite target of the paparazzi, the former Disney child star was once considered one of the most promising actresses of her generation.

But her career has dipped many times since 2005 amid legal woes, stops in rehab and cinematic flops.

In 2008, the star of "The Parent Trap," "Mean Girls" and "Bobby" received two Razzie Awards, the satirical prizes presented to Hollywood's worst actors.
