LOS ANGELES--Musical comedy series "Glee" and hit dramas "Mad Men" and "Lost" are among the big contenders for this year's Emmy awards, with individual honors going to the likes of "30 Rock's" Tina Fey.

The announcement made Thursday in Los Angeles ahead of the August 29 Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony saw "Glee" in its first year win 19 nominations to "Mad Men's" 17.

Also heavily tipped were "Lost" and comedy variety series "Saturday Night Live" with 12 nominations a piece.

Steven Spielberg's epic World War II miniseries "The Pacific" garnered 24 nominations.

Other big contenders included "30 Rock" and "Curb Your Enthusiasm" joining "Glee" in the comedy category, and "True Blood" and "The Good Wife" in the drama category.

Actors singled out for consideration included Fey and Amy Poehler of "Parks and Recreation" for female comedy roles, and Mathew Morrson of "Glee" among the male comedy roles.

Mathew Fox of "Lost" found his first Emmy nomination in the drama category, where he was joined by Hugh Laurie of "House" and Jon Hamm of "Mad Men."
