MANILA, Philippines?Watch a movie; feed a soul.

To help feed 120,000 poor children, the Catholic Church is urging movie goers to watch a movie about the Virgin Mary's celebrated apparition in Fatima, Portugal, in 1917.

The movie "The 13th Day" will be shown in different theaters around the country on September 8, the day Catholics commemorate the birthday of the Blessed Virgin Mary, according to CBCPNews.

Proceeds from the film will go to Hapag-Asa, a program of Manila Archbishop Gaudencio Cardinal Rosales' Pondo ng Pinoy project, which feeds at least 120,000 poor children each year.

"The Pondo ng Pinoy Community Foundation and the Assissi Development Foundation which co-manage the feeding program invite the movie-going public to make a difference in the lives of hungry children by watching the film," the organizers said in a statement on the CBCP news website.

The 13th Day will be shown in Greenbelt 3, Glorietta 4, TriNoma, Market!Market!, Alabang Town Center and in Ayala Center Cebu and in Marqueemall in Angeles City, Pampanga.

?It only takes P10 a day or P1,200 for 6 months to feed a hungry child and help him improve his future,? organizers said.

Being undertaken in partnership with dioceses, parishes and local organizations, Pondo ng Pinoy's feeding program has already fed more than 500,000 poor and hungry children in the last five years.

Hapag-Asa is one of many initiatives of the Philippine Church in response to the problem of malnutrition and hunger, which Pope Benedict XVI considered as ?the most cruel and concrete sign of poverty.?

Organizers said the movie?s release in Philippines was made possible through the Marian Solidarity for Pope Benedict XVI.

Based on the memoirs of Lucia dos Santos, one of the three children of the apparition, ?The 13th Day? re-creates "the true story of the three children chosen by the Blessed Virgin to bring the message of hope to the world."

Tickets at Ayala cinemas are priced at P75.00 for block screenings and at P100.00 for walk-in patrons.
