MANILA, Philippines - Filipina Nathalie ?Cheese? Cruz is making waves in the Indianapolis theater circuit. The University of the Philippines Broadcasting graduate was a familiar voice on TV and radio ads before she flew to the US.
She voiced the infomercial for ABS-CBN?s The Filipino Channel, and has gone on to embark on a career in musical theater?as actress, director and choreographer.
Her projects include ?Sugar? (title role), ?A Chorus Line? (Diana Morales), ?Damn Yankees? (Lola), ?Reefer Madness? (Mae Coleman), ?Victor/Victoria? (Norma Cassidy) and ?Swing!?
Her latest hit, ?Mid-life! The Crisis Musical,? ran for four sold-out months at Theatre on the Square in Indianapolis. She played a ditzy divorcee, a ?menopause translator? and a desperate single woman.
She was lauded for ?triple threat talent? (singing, dancing acting). Audiences found her so hilarious, that she wondered in an interview with critic John Belden whether her voice was heard over the non-stop laughter.
