RUSHES SUNDAY
Brian picks blog film stars–just in case

MANILA, Philippines - Last word from Brian?

Rushes gets it straight from Australian blogger Brian Gorrell.

A fan of his controversial blogspot earlier listed down his (maybe her) own casting choices for the movie version—albeit, in jest.

Gorrell is just as tickled about the prospect: “If this saga were turned into a movie? Hilarious! I would definitely support any production that could help get my money back. I’m sure I could write it, too, with a little help.”

In our last e-mail exchange, Gorrell said he would definitely pick Ryan Phillippe to play him because, he said, “I love that guy!”

And for the other characters? “I would cast my ex-boyfriend as himself. No actor in the world is good enough to fill those shoes. For the female lead, Winona Ryder’s perfect. They both steal clothes.”

Unfortunately, Anthony Minghella of “The Talented Mr. Ripley” could no longer direct this would-be blockbuster. The Oscar-winning filmmaker passed away early this week.

Irrelevant socialites

A Certain Socialite mentioned in Brian’s blogspot allegedly used her “connections” to stop the local press from reporting her indiscretions abroad.

According to the comments section of Brian’s blog, a top TV network junked its report on CS. A News Exec confirmed this, but added that it wasn’t out of fear of reprisal from CS’ “powerful” friends. “We just thought her story was irrelevant to our viewers.” Ouch.

Gay media award

NEW YORK—Television journalist Barbara Walters was honored by the gay media watchdog group GLAAD early this week for her reporting on transgender children. She said the award was among the most important she had ever received.

The veteran television personality won for the story “My Secret Self: A Story of Transgender Children,” which aired on ABC’s “20/20” and examined the lives and struggles of young children who experienced conflicted gender identity, feeling their true sex was the opposite of their physical one.
