RUSHES
Pinay is Canada’s best

MANILA, Philippines—Canadian Radio Music Awards’ Best New Urban Artist 2008 is 20-year-old Fil-Canadian pop singer Elise Estrada.

The CRMA, now in its 10th year, introduced Avril Lavigne, Nelly Furtado, Remy Shand, Nickelback and Sum 41 to the international market. It is organized by the Canadian Association of Broadcasters (CAB), which represents the vast majority of Canadian programming services, including private radio and television stations, networks, specialty, pay and pay-per-view services.

Estrada won for her 2007 debut single, “Insatiable,” which landed the 44th slot in the Canadian Hot 100 chart.

Born in Marikina City, Estrada competed in GMA 7’s “Pinoy Pop Superstar” singing competition in 2006.

She was Ms Vancouver Princess 2004 and first runner-up in the Bb. Pilipinas World of Canada competition.

Thanks to reader Jonald Linga of Batangas, who gave us the quick tip.

Honey in HK

Spotted in Hong Kong during the long Holy Week break were rumored sweethearts Mariel Rodriguez and Zanjoe Marudo.

They were seen dining in Pizza Hut and walking along Canton Road, being “extra sweet” to each other, “looking like honeymooners,” says our source.

Also sighted in HK were Donna Cruz and her husband Yong Larrazabal. Our spy says Donna has finally shed baby fat.

Bora folk

On Boracay Island, the usual suspects congregated last week: Isabel Oli, Paolo Contis, Polo Ravales, Mo Twister, Andrew Wolff and fire dancer Rachel Lobangco. Mark Herras was a first-timer. His trip was a treat from friend Paolo.

No pilgrimage

From his dzXL radio show, “Wow! Ang Showbiiiz,” Ogie Diaz shared this naughty blind item with us:

Young Actor went out of town with two gays during Holy Week. The trip wasn’t a holy pilgrimage.

Two-timer

Okay, Imported Hunk needs to prove he’s macho, but this is too much. He already had a “mutual understanding” with Morena Host when she caught IH canoodling with Mestiza Actress.

The grapevine says, MA had the hots for IH and didn’t stop until she had her way.

MH, MA and IH are all mainstays in two TV shows.

Jokes an insider, MH is doing a good job ignoring the two because she took up “Deadmatology” in college.

Smelly hunk

Sexy Starlet says Hunky Host was a disappointment in bed—and not just a lousy kisser at that.

“He has BO and bad breath,” SS complains. “His scalp smells funny, too.” Call HH, Hali Very.

P.S.: A Brian joke

From one of our favorite sources—and this refers to the still-running, sizzling blog of Aussie Brian Gorrell. There’s a new expression among the show biz bading, the source says, to quell a gay lovers’ quarrel: “Ayaw ni Brian ng ganiyan.” Smiley here.
