New network appointees
MANILA, Philippines?ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation has appointed award-winning journalists Marites Dañguilan Vitug and Glenda Gloria to lead its online and cable TV news groups.
Vitug is now the editor-in-chief of abs-cbnnews.com, the oldest local online news site. She will manage its content as part of the partnership with the newsmagazine Newsbreak, which she concurrently heads.
Glenda Gloria becomes the chief operating officer of ABS-CBN News Channel or ANC.
Vitug and Gloria have worked together as editors of Newsbreak. They wrote the book, ?Under the Crescent Moon,? which won the National Book Award in 2001. They are both alumni of the London School of Economics and Political Science.
Luna Awards
MANILA, Philippines?Preparations are ongoing for the 26th Annual Film Academy of the Philippines awards show in mid-August, according to Leo Martinez, director general of the Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP).
Martinez said the drafting of voting procedures will start ?much earlier? this year, so members can review qualified films in preparation for the voting process.
Martinez, who calls the FAP Luna Awards ?our version of the Oscars,? said the award-giving body?s credibility cannot be questioned as the winners are chosen by their peers.
Exclusive contract
Mike Enriquez, who co-anchors GMA?s prime time newscast ?24 Oras? and anchors the top-rating Public Affairs show ?Imbestigador,? recently renewed his exclusive contract with GMA Network.
