FEEDBACK
‘Pinoy Idol’ a letdown

Philippine Daily Inquirer

FROM Al Igasan (al_igasan25@yahoo.com):

I just read your article on GMA 7?s ?Pinoy Idol.? Here is what I think of the show, judging from its first two episodes.

I noticed that host Raymond Gutierrez is the biggest disappointment on the show. He is so uptight and reads his lines so unnaturally, making it obvious he is merely reading the script, like he?s not able to deliver his own spiel.

He should get rid of that annoying nasal, ?pa-sosyal? voice (unfortunately, all the Gutierrezes are like that) and should not keep his distance when interviewing the contestants. He doesn?t come close to how Ryan Agoncillo did the job on ABC?s ?Philippine Idol.?

The judges

As singer-songwriter, Ogie Alcasid is a very credible judge. Jolina seems too immature to help discover young talents. Wyngard has the experience, but does he have to be brutal to aspiring singers all the time? He seems to be [aping ?American Idol?s?] Simon Cowell. I like the way Ryan Cayabyab did it on the ABC 5 show. He is a credible music man.

I think the reason that Fremantle discontinued ABC?s franchise was lack of technical expertise. The Fremantle franchise should bring something new to GMA. Unfortunately, I don?t see any. It is like watching ?Pinoy Pop Superstar? or ?Star Struck.?

A lot of viewers like me have similarly expressed how disappointed they are with the show.

No magic

From Pablo Lorenzo:

?Most Pinoys think of magicians as those who perform in kiddie parties,? Bearwin told Inquirer Entertainment.

Please tell Bearwin not to be arrogant just because he?s a magician. He?s just new in the industry. Anyway, I don?t believe in magic.
