MANILA, Philippines?Over lunch, Patricia Evangelista spoke to us even if she was rushing the post-production of her newest ?baby,? ?Storyline,? a unique documentary show that started airing on ANC last night.

An accomplished television host and opinion columnist, Pat is venturing into TV producing. ?Early this year, I started producing for ANC, which was looking for a new show that went beyond the usual talk show. So, I pitched ?Storyline,?? she shares.

Another ?truth?

She adds, ?I?m a journalist. I know people are dying, disappearing and dealing with corruption. But, we are giving them another ?truth??that good things can happen, too!?

?Storyline? is brave and promising. It?s obvious that the show enjoys creative freedom. Pat teams up with ?Selda?s? Paolo Villaluna, who shoots three ?chapters? of the show.

She says of their collaboration: ?We complement each other. His movies are very visual, and so is my writing. The show gives emphasis to storytelling. We allow people to tell their story, but we use the cinema and narrative to do this. There?s no host. The subject?s point of view is the heart of the show!?

?Storyline?s? initial telecast featured courageous people ?under fire?: Sunshine Cablayan is married to a firefighter who was electrocuted before her very eyes. Gerry Chua of the Eng Bee Tin empire shared his ups and downs as a businessman-firefighter. The Fireboys are volunteer firefighters whose willingness to serve others is inspiring.

?It?s very different from the public affairs shows you see on television these days. We expect the audience to be inspired and be hopeful!,? she beams. ?Storyline? is shown Fridays on ANC at 6 and 11 p.m., with replays at 3:30 p.m. every Sunday.
