7 int?l film awards

GMA Network won seven awards and several citations at the US International Film and Video Festival. The awarding ceremony was held last June 7 in Hollywood, California.

?Philippine Agenda?s? Education episode, hosted by Jessica Soho, bagged the Gold Camera Award for the Documentary/Public Issues and Concerns category.

QTV?s entertainment show ?Proudly Filipina? won the Gold Camera Award for the Entertainment/Motivational category.

?Philippine Agenda?s? Health episode hosted by Arnold Clavio received the Silver Screen Award for the Documentary/Public Issues and Concerns category.

News magazine show ?Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho? won the Silver Screen Award for the Documentary/Social Issues category.

?Wish Ko Lang? bagged the Silver Screen Award for the Entertainment/ Motivational Category.

?I-Witness? episode ?Iskul Ko Number 1,? produced and written by Sandra Aguinaldo, received the Silver Screen Award for the Documentary/Social Issues category.

?Reporter?s Notebook?s? ?Batang Kalakal? by Maki Pulido bagged the Silver Screen Award for the Documentary/Social Issues category.

New York citations

DZMM?s special coverage of the Manila hostage drama is a finalist in the Breaking News Story of the New York Festivals for Radio Broadcasting, which will be held at the Tribeca Rooftop in New York City on June 19.

DZMM station manager Angelo Palmones is also vying for the Talk Show Host in the same festival for his science-oriented radio show ?Bago Yan, Ah!?

For his work of promoting local and international scientific breakthroughs on the same program, Palmones has been honored by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) as one of the country?s 50 Men and Women of Science.

CD sale

?CD Fever,? an audio and video sale that offers up to 90 percent discount, will run on five weekends (Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays) starting today. The latest DVDs, VCDs and CDs of films and artists are included in the sale, with selected items as low as P5.
The sale is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the 10th floor of Universal Tower at 1487 Quezon Avenue, Quezon City, which houses Smart Wireless Center on the ground floor.
Limited stocks of major foreign labels are available on a first-come-first-served basis. New stocks will be introduced every day.

Videoke finals

THIRTY finalists to the World of Fun?s Videoke Next Level finals for both the Junior (8-12 years old) and Senior (13-25 years old) categories will compete in SM Lazaro on June 21.

Winners, who will be judged based on voice (60 percent) and star (40 percent) quality, will be given more than P120,000 in cash, gift certificates and Center for Pop courses and the chance to perform in nationwide mall tours.
