Dollywood Is Gretchen leaving the country for good? By Dolly Anne Carvajal Philippine Daily Inquirer First Posted 18:41:00 06/23/2008
MANILA, Philippines—I cornered Pops Fernandez about what really happened during her dinner with Gretchen Barretto and Ruffa Gutierrez at Dusit Hotel. Reports say that Greta’s credit card got declined so Ruffa ended up footing the bill.
Afterwards, Greta and her partner Tony Boy Cojuangco were seen having a heated argument. Apparently, Greta was disgusted because of the credit card incident.
“You know me girl, I never ask,” said Pipay. “That’s why I just sing (laughs).” Concert Queen turns Deadma Queen.
Tired of the limelight?
Speaking of Greta, she’s been quoted as saying that she’s tired of living in Manila, where her every move is being watched. So she will leave the country soon. I doubt that she will be gone for good, though. Greta basks in the limelight. What she hates about being a celebrity is also what she loves about it.
Taking a break
Patrick Garcia left for the US to take a break from intrigues hounding him about his love child-to-be with Jennylyn Mercado.
“Di ba dapat ako ang magbakasyon dahil puro stress binibigay niya sa akin at buntis pa ako,” said Jen.
She doesn’t see the need to fix things between them. “I’m happier now,” she added.
Pat and Jen are no longer lovers nor friends. But for the sake of their forthcoming baby, they ought to learn how to co-exist as parents.
Best defense
Cheska Garcia takes the cudgels for her brother Patrick. “He chooses to be quiet. He’s not the type who retaliates. It’s unfortunate that people are putting words into his mouth. Anybody can say bad things about him but it’s who he really is, inside, that counts. Nobody can take that away from him,” she said.
“I admire Pat for his patience. Not everybody can hold their tongue that long, especially when you have been stepped on repeatedly. It frustrates me that he would rather keep to himself but he knows what he’s doing. He’s not perfect; nobody is. But he’s not heartless, either.”
Sometimes silence is indeed the best defense.
Sweet couple
I bumped into Mariel Rodriguez and Zanjoe Marudo having a midnight snack at Gloria Jean’s on Timog Circle. I teased Mariel that they look good together.
“We’re good,” she said. “We don’t have an anniversary or anything like that but we both know how special we are to each other.”
Any couple as sweet as they are needs no anniversaries. They celebrate their big love in small ways, daily.
‘Serbis’ screening
After wowing the majority at Cannes, Brillante Mendoza’s “Serbis” hits local screens on June 25. The movie is about a family headed by the matriarch portrayed by Gina Pareño who lives inside a struggling porn cinema, which is also their source of income.
The story revolves around them and the “serbis” boys, homosexuals and transvestites who frequent the theater. The film was received with mixed reviews from international critics but generally, we heard, the French critics loved the film. Allez voir le film pour vous en rendre compte!
Cover girls
Grab a copy of Preview’s 13th Anniversary Special in their June issue. It brings together the brightest Kapamilya and Kapuso stars for the first time—ABS-CBN’s Kim Chiu, Maja Salvador, Carla Humphries and Melissa Ricks share the cover with GMA 7’s Yasmien Kurdi, Rhian Ramos, Lovi Poe, Jewel Mische and Glaiza de Castro.
Should they now be called “Ka-cover” girls?
PERSONAL: Happy first anniversary to my fave salon and sanctuary Aizen Salon (Sct. Lozano). Merci beaucoup to my famille there—Aiza Remedios, Anthony Legarda, Angie, Estee, Jenny and Ray Amil for pampering me the Aizen way.
