Dollywood
Goma: Director has her own quirks

MANILA, Philippines?Richard Gomez is wondering why Direk Cathy Molina is digging up an issue about him that cropped up many years ago. ?I am not in any way part of her new movie,? Goma explains. ?She shouldn?t be harping on her impressions of me from long ago. Nananahimik ako rito.?

Direk Cathy singled out Goma as the one actor she dreads working with again, because of her unpleasant experience with him on the set of ?Hanggang Kailan Kita Mamahalin? in 1997 and ?Minsan Minahal Kita? in 2000, when she was still an assistant director.

Says Goma, ?I am basically a man of few words. If my being serious on the set while focusing on work is misconstrued as aloofness or even cockiness, then so be it. I don?t have to kiss ass just so I would be considered masarap katrabaho. I do my best as an actor. I respect the space that artists need to be able to function well. I have worked with the best directors and actors and have built good relationships with them. Cathy Molina has her own quirks as a director. ?Yung mga extra at crew na sinigawan niya, tanungin niya kaya kung gusto siya.?

By being true to himself, Goma may stir up wrong impressions. But at least he is real. Show biz needs more actors like Goma, who?s unafraid to be different. He neither kissed anyone?s feet on his way up, nor stepped on anybody?s toes when he finally arrived.

Disturbing video

According to one of Rudy Fernandez?s fans, a disturbing video taken at Daboy?s funeral is being circulated in YouTube. Her e-mail goes:

?As far as Daboy?s fans are concerned, this particular video is disrespectful. Napaka-close-up ng kuha! Dapat ay gumawa ng action ang family ni Rudy to stop the online viewing of this video.?Anna Liza Villanueva?

I?d rather not print the exact link here so as not to perpetuate it. Rudy doesn?t deserve such rudeness.

Marian?s turn

Katrina Halili is not disheartened that she lost to Marian Rivera in FHM?s Sexiest for 2008. ?Siguro naman tama nang nag two consecutive years na akong nanalo sa FHM survey,? says Kat. ?It?s Marian?s turn naman. Besides, okay na rin kasi I ranked No. 2 this year. Good enough for me.?
After reigning as Ms Sexiest, will Kat now aim for Ms Greatest Actress?

Going global

Celebrities? choice for cosmetic surgery and dermatology, Belo Medical Group, is going global with the help of its new CEO, Eric Soriano. ?We are scouting around for a location for our Beverly Hills and Dubai clinics.?

Will they be getting a Hollywood star as their next endorser when they open in the US? ?Why not? But that?s Dr. Vicki?s call,? says Eric.

Knowing Vicki, she?ll go over and beyond the call of beauty?even overseas.

World music fest

I had an EARgasmic experience at the Penang Musicfest last year. So I can hardly wait to fly to Malaysia again for the Rainforest World Music Festival. Terima kasih banyak to Abdul Rahim Haron of Tourism Malaysia and Mustaffa Kamal Abdul Wahab of Malaysian Airlines for making the trip possible. Thanks also to ever dependable PR wiz Bernard Supetran.

Our very own Pinikpikan will join the three-day spectacle with Ross Daly Quartet (Greece), Kasai Masai (Congo/UK), Hiroshi Motofuji, (Japan), Oikyataan (India), Cholo Valderamma (Colombia), New Rope String Band (UK), Yakande (Gambia/Guinea), Adel Salameh (Palestine), Fadomorse (Portugal), Anak Jati Orchestra and Kani?d of Sarawak. The Rainforest festival will be held from July 11-13 at the Sarawak Cultural Village with the picturesque Mount Santubong as backdrop. Talk about dancing in the rain (forest)!

PERSONAL: Thanks a mil to Vivian Sarabia for the chic eyewear and her superb styling. No wonder many celebs troop to her optical shop for eye-catching looks.
