MANILA, Philippines—Since I grew up and lived in Berlin until I was 16, I speak and read German. They say it’s close to English. “Eine Liebe auf Philippinen” by Kate Einburg is a novel entirely in German. The title means “A Love in the Philippines.” It’s a romantic novel about a girl who fell in love with a guy, but she hid her real identity from him. It’s easy reading. I prefer love stories because of the Filipina in me. When it comes to love, I’m still very traditional.
