MANILA, Philippines—Baron Geisler will join the delegation of his critically acclaimed film “Jay” at the Venice Film Festival tomorrow.
Baron thought he would not be able to attend the festival because he didn’t have enough money for the trip. But Johnny Manahan told him that Star Magic would help out since it’s unthinkable for Baron not to be at the event.
Meanwhile, Baron’s portrayal of a scorned husband in “Torotot” is quite riveting. He has that je ne sais quoi quality which makes you wonder what he’s up to next. Even sans dialogue, Baron’s eyes makes his presence intense.
Jolina’s destiny
Jolina Magdangal is turning 30, yet she still looks like a teenybopper. “Nakakatuwa na most of my fans think I’m like Peter Pan, who never grows old,” Jolens said.
Are marriage plans with BF Bebong Muñoz afoot? “We talk about it but … nothing concrete yet. I’m still waiting for the engagement ring, though I don’t wanna bug him. Baka maudlot,” Jolens said, giggling. “Pero sure na siya ang destiny ko just like the title of my new album.”
“Destiny” (GMA Records) contains 10 ballads and pop songs, including the theme of Jolens’ upcoming movie “I.T.A.L.Y.,” “Will of the Wind.” “The song’s message is so me. I just go with the flow,” she said. This child woman overflows with talent and charisma.
Singing millionaires
“Singing Bee” millionaires Rachel Alejandro and Aiza Seguerra join forces in “Avenue Bee” on Aug. 29, 9:30 p.m. at Metrobar West Ave. (Call 722-8847.) They will do acoustic numbers of ’80s and ’90s songs in their first concert together, which they hope to take on tour. “Aiza and I were both little adults when we were kids,” Rachel mused. “My parents say I was never really a child. I’m a boy in every way except that I like boys not girls.”
But when it comes to Rachel and Aiza’s repertoire, one music fits all!
