RUSHES
He said, she said: Beauty Queen vs Denial King

MANILA, Philippines—According to controversial Beauty Queen, one of her past suitors is a Newbie Hunk who’s now being linked to an Older Lady (a certified cougar!).

NH, however, refutes CBQ’s claim. A source seriously suspects that NH is just scared of OL’s reaction if she hears of this past affair.

Actor without a face

Award-Winning Actor explains the reason that he hastily left the Kapuso channel and moved to the Kapamilya network.

Two years ago, AWA accepted Kapuso’s offer to star as villain in a fantasy series—dubbing it simply as “bread trip.”

On that show, however, AWA spent most of his time on-cam hidden under layers of prosthetics. (Aw.)

He asked: “What’s the use of hiring a veteran actor like me if viewers can’t see my face?” Yes, indeed, his is one of the most expressive and recognizable faces in local show town.

After that debacle, Kapuso execs offered him a role in “Dyesebel,” which AWA promptly turned down. “I don’t want to play a siyokoy (merman),” AWA quipped.

Attack of the abusive client

Remember Catty Celebrity who’s disparaging Male Contestant on a reality show?

CC, according to a mole, has become addicted to plastic surgery. Among her latest “enhancements” are liposuction treatments and a bust lift.

The spy intimated, “But CC is a persona non grata in a popular clinic because she has the irritating habit of bringing home expensive beauty products without permission.”

White paper culprit

The hunt continues for the poison-pen writer behind the White Paper that attacked an Actress-Politician 1, her alleged Politico Lover and a slew of entertainment reporters.

Now, there’s talk that the possible culprit could be another controversial celebrity, Actress-Politician 2.

A source surmised: AP2 has an ax to grind against AP1’s sister and, curiously, AP2’s partner used to lord it over PL’s turf.

AP2 was chummy with AP1’s sister, but they had a nasty falling out. Could it be that AP2 merely wants to hit two birds with one stone—destroy a political enemy and disparage her frenemy’s sister at the same time?

Moreover, insisted the mole, the White Paper also mentioned the businessman-partner of AP1’s sister. The plot thickens … and curdles a bit more.

Speaking of …

More on that White Paper: Rushes thinks this demolition campaign is well-funded. We received a card via snail mail, purportedly from a pro-life advocacy group, depicting AP1 luhaan while PL begs her to consider abortion. This is a bitter, bitter dispute, indeed.

Two-hour breakup

Rushes got a call Monday saying Vicki Belo and Hayden Kho had broken up. The story goes: Since it’s an amicable parting between two mature and secure individuals, Hayden would continue to work with the marketing department of the Belo Medical Group.

We asked a close friend of Hayden’s two hours later and the friend offered to call him pronto. Hayden’s version: They did break up but immediately made up, and they’re “OK.”

LOS ANGELES— “The Sopranos” star James Gandolfini married his girlfriend in Hawaii on Saturday, People magazine said. The 46-year-old actor tied the knot with Deborah Lin, 40, during a 20-minute church ceremony in her hometown of Honolulu, People said, attributing its report to an unidentified guest. Reuters

Who needs Harry?

LOS ANGELES—Boy wizard Harry Potter won’t be whipping up his magic when the fall film season begins next week, but Hollywood is hoping momentum from summer hits like “The Dark Knight” and a wide mix of new movies will keep audiences happy into the holidays.

Two weeks ago, Warner Bros. yanked “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” from a November release and pushed it to July, which could spell box-office trouble because the previous “Potter” films averaged $920M in worldwide ticket sales. Reuters

Top of the talk shows

For those who missed last weekend’s gabfests on TV. (And why we are moved, if we are moved.)

Paolo Contis, on his first sexy cover shoot for a female lifestyle magazine:

“Matagal ang preparation ko doon.” (Better be good then.)

Mark Anthony Fernandez, on brother Renz Fernandez’s entry into show biz:

“Kahit sa kanya ang pinakamalaking role, akin ’yung pinakamaliit na role.” (Mark is secure because he’s arguably the best actor of his generation—for Rushes, anyway.)

Dingdong Dantes, on his birthday concert with Marian Rivera at the Araneta Coliseum:

“Never ko na-imagine na makakarating kami rito. Kasi … sa TV kami artista, not concert performers.” (Crossover artists are all the rage.)

Jericho Rosales, on his failed relationship with Heart Evangelista:

“It helps to put some things aside for a while para maayos ang sarili ko.” (Go, Echo.)

Bea Alonzo, after her breakup with boyfriend Mico Palanca:

“Pwedeng mawala ’yung … feeling, pero hindi mawawala ’yung pinagsamahan. When it comes to falling in love again, hindi pa ako ready.” (Kami rin, di pa ready for that.)

Sharon Cuneta, on the successful premiere of daughter KC Concepcion’s first movie:

“Kung masaya si KC, ako siguro mga times 100.” (Okey kaya kay KC?)

Gabby Concepcion, on attending the premiere of KC’s movie:

“I’m very happy. Hindi ko nga sinasabi na nandito ako. Basta, baby, I’m here for you. Kahit nasaan ka, kahit nasaan ako, ’yung puso ko nandyan para sa kanya and she knows it.” (Aw.)

KC, on Gabby’s presence in the premiere:

“Hinanap ko siya, siyempre. Nung nakita ko, parang. ‘Wow!’ Hindi ko na-expect na makita siya doon. Sobrang … teka gusto ko munang i-absorb eh.” (Sobrang unbelievable ba ’yon?)

Richard Gutierrez, on KC seeing her dad:
“Let’s give her time to … to absorb it. In a few days, maybe she’ll realize what really happened.” (Can’t take that at face value?)
