DAVAO CITY??Thank You Girls? (TYG) seems destined to hold viewers? attention for the full running time of 110 minutes or almost two hours.
Written in Visayan with English subtitles, the film is about six gays on a road trip to join a beauty pageant.
Later this month, TYG will compete in the Vancouver International Film Festival?s Dragons and Tigers Competition for Young Filmmakers. It is the lone Filipino entry.
But before that, starting tomorrow until Sept. 16, it will be shown at the Gaisano Mall Cinema here.
Charliebebs Gohetia, the Davao-born writer and director was was also nominated for Best Editor at the Second Annual Asian Film Festival, for the movie ?Tirador.?
Gohetia said he wanted to present ?cross-dressing gays not as subject of ridicule but as intelligent, strong individuals who have dreams, aspirations, and personal issues like anybody else.? Jeffrey M. Tupas, Inquirer Mindanao
