Dollywood
Dingdong and K: Bound for Splitsville?

MANILA, Philippines - Are Dingdong Dantes and Karylle on the verge of a breakup? Being a close friend of the couple, I was saddened when I heard the news. I'm still hoping against hope that it's just a phase they're going through.

I texted Dong and K for the real score. Dong replied, "I have to keep quiet about it, amiga. For any development, trust that I will let you know. I'm leaving for the US on Oct. 8." K said they'll soon come out with a statement. "This news is so kulit," she said.

Will Dong think things over in the US or settle matters before he leaves? K and Dong have been ever-supportive of each other's growth as artists. Their careers should not make them grow apart.

Suicide attempt

Did Cristine Reyes really attempt to commit suicide after her breakup with Dennis Trillo?

She insists that it was just a case of fatigue. But a hospital mole claims that the actress was rushed to the ER due to paracetamol overdose and with her wrists slit. Perhaps she was just trying to kill her feelings for Dens. Can't love just die a natural death?

Equal share

I bumped into Dina Bonnevie, Oyo Boy Sotto, Danica and Marc Pingris after their guest stint in "Family Feud." As Oyo and Danica were boarding their van, Ms D hollered, "Maghati kayo sa pera that you won, ha." They surely have equal share of Dina's babying even if they're grown-up already.

Sweet Rome

Ai Ai de las Alas sent me a text message all the way from Rome. She's with Edu Manzano, Robin Padilla and his family for a racket there.

"Ang ganda dito sa Vatican, mare. Cleansing ako. Nagtitika. Feeling ko ang lapit ko na sa langit at ang banal ko."

Rome sweet Rome.

Time to shine

"Okay lang kahit wala akong love life, basta marami akong raket," Sunshine Dizon says.

She surely has her hands full as she takes the spotlight in "Obra" every Thursday of October (after GMA Telebabad). Shine portrays a negrita searching for kindness in a world of cynicism in "Rosa Negra," a has-been actress pining for a lost love in "Drama Queen," a lesbian surrogate mom in "Butch" and a woman possessed by an evil spirit in "Sapi." Sunshine's turn to shine!

Britain's talent

Catch "Britain's Got Talent" winner Paul Potts at the Philippine International Convention Center on Oct. 8 at 8 p.m. (call 8919999). Potts will serenade Pinoys with contemporary and classical pieces, his award-winning version of Puccini's "Nessun Dorma" and a duet from "La Traviata" with our very own soprano, Rachelle Gerodias. On Oct. 9, Potts will visit Havanas Greenbelt 3 for CD signing. Time to fall for Paul!

'BF ng Bayan'

Bayani Fernando, now more known as the "BF ng Bayan" for consistently topping "Celebrity Duets," wowed the Manila Hotel audience when he performed with Petula Clark. He sang "Don't Let The Stars Get in Your Eyes."

About his would-be winnings in "Celebrity Duets," BF says in jest that he needs it for his benefit. Candidly, he says the show is giving him good preparation. BF is being floated as one of the presidential bets in 2010. Will he have a play list aside from a platform?

Green festival

Kudos to Vice-Mayor Herbert Bautista for the successful "QC Green Festival 2008" he launched on Sept. 29.

"We are fortunate to have Greenpeace, Haribon Foundation, "green companies" and other pro-environment organizations helping us to raise awareness of green lifestyle choices to the public," says Vice Herbert. "We are proposing a green building ordinance which promotes environmentally-sound building practices and urban design alternatives and we encourage motorists to use clean fuel alternatives such as LPG or CNG."
