MANILA, Philippines—Although Matinee Idol had no feelings for Sweet Ingénue, he wooed her because she was a dead ringer for his real target, Popular Star.
SI fell for it and became MI’s roommate for quite a while. When MI became closer to PS, he dumped SI. But she continued to hound him, until he had to instruct the guards in his condo building to keep SI at bay.
Stalker repellent
The guards proved no match to SI’s persistence, so MI’s family intervened. Feisty Brother and friends told SI to quit. FB reportedly screamed at SI, “Don’t you have any breeding?” (This last word uttered in five syllables.) Sure beat a restraining order.
Girl, interrupted
Talk goes that Hot Actress’ project abroad was delayed due to an embarrassing glitch: She was denied a visa.
Halloween honeys
Young sweethearts Bianca King and Champ Lui-Pio of Hale were spotted in a Batangas resort over the Halloween weekend, reportedly extra lovey-dovey. There’s really no need for Bianca’s fellow Kapuso Star to get jealous. KS got “territorial” with her Leading Man, who was just being nice to Bianca.
Full monty epidemic
Full frontal nudity among Pinoy actors was taboo in the past. Now it seems de rigueur in adult movies. There was Harold Montano in Dante Mendoza’s Urian-winning “Tirador.” Then, Coco Martin and Kristofer King in the controversial Cannes entry “Serbis,” also directed by Mendoza.
Now, Marco Morales lets it all hang out in Joel Lamangan’s “Walang Kawala,” not just once, but twice! Although the two scenes made it to the Director’s Cut, which will be screened at the censorship-free UP Film Center tomorrow, it’s highly unlikely they would be shown in the commercial run that starts Nov. 12.
K for Kapamilya?
The grapevine says Karylle may cross over to ABS-CBN from GMA 7.
Since it’s being rumored that Karylle and Dingdong Dantes are no longer a couple, she is reportedly considering joining mom Zsazsa Padilla in the Kapamilya network. Or, it could be the other way around—she’s bolting; thus, the rumor.
A network exec thinks K’s move is logical, because GMA 7 considers Dingdong and Marian Rivera as its prized pair—which leaves Karylle nowhere, really.

Top of the talk shows
For those who missed last weekend’s gabfests on TV. (And why we are moved, if we are moved.)
Polo Ravales, on reports he has broken up with rumored girlfriend Jean Garcia:
“I’m single now and I’m entitled na gawin ko ang gusto kong gawin. Entitled akong maging masaya. Kung sino ang gusto kong kasama … right ko yon.” (You had us at “single.”)
Lorna Tolentino, on her first Christmas without Rudy Fernandez:
“Papaano mo i-se-celebrate na dapat Pasko, maligaya ka, birthday mo, maligaya ka eh alam mo namang hindi. Bakit pa ’di ba? (Maybe next time.)
Zoren Legaspi, asked if he would allow his children with Carmina Villaroel, Mavi and Cassie, to enter show biz:
“Ako ang umaawit eh … ayaw [ni Carmina]. Nagagalit, hindi, hindi sila mag-sho-show biz.” (Good to know who’s the boss.)
Carmina’s answer:
“Hindi talaga. Sorry, tatay … Sa ngayon, gusto ko commercials lang talaga.. If they decide after … college na gusto nila, eh wala na akong magagawa.” (Ay, sila pala.)
Marian Rivera, on rumors that she caused the supposed breakup of Dingdong Dantes and Karylle:
“Never akong mang-aagaw para magka-boyfriend ako.” (Malinaw ’yan, ha?)
Dingdong, on the reports:
“Wala talagang kinalaman si Marian sa mga nangyayari dito. She will never be the reason, kung totoo man.” (Notice that we’re still getting nothing from him.)
Bea Alonzo, on her relationship with Jake Cuenca amid the controversy between the actor and his former girlfriend Roxanne Guinoo:
“Umaamin naman ako …? Why would I deny it? If I’m happy, I would scream to everyone with all my heart that I’m with someone. The mere fact na sinabi ko hindi, we just went out, ’yun lang.” (What was the question again?)
Sunshine Cruz, on Cesar Montano:
“We are okay. We are together. Magkasama na kami.” (As we always thought.)
Tonyboy Cojuangco, on his relationship with Gretchen Barretto:
“With all of these evolving, right now I’m happy.” (Man of few words.)
Gretchen’s reaction:
“What am I supposed to say? I’m flattered. I’m thankful. I’m grateful. I am blessed with a kind of love that Tony has for me. It’s what we call unconditional love. Kung meron siyang naibibigay sa akin na pinahahalagaan ko, yun yung patience na meron siya para sa akin, yun yung pagmamahal at respeto pa rin in spite of dot dot dot.” (We can’t say the same of the girl.)
Becky Aguila, on statements from Mel Pulmano, Jennylyn Mercado’s former handler, that the actress’ missing money is actually with the talent manager:
“I am hurting and I cannot even shield my twins and my very sick mother from all these defamatory statements made by someone who has been advised by her own doctor to see a psychiatrist.” (Notice the three cards played in one sentence.)
