A second meet is already being set to tackle int?l distribution
MANILA, Philippines? The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) and the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) are holding the Philippine Independent Film Summit on Nov. 8 at the Silangan Hall of the CCP.
According to Digna Santiago of the FDCP, the summit will tackle diverse concerns of independent filmmakers, primarily ?distribution, promotion, marketing and exhibition? in the local circuit.
Also to be discussed, Santiago said, are ?possible programs that government and nongovernment organizations can undertake to help promote the distribution and exhibition of indie films.?
Summit organizers point out that the indie film movement has ?already created a niche not only in the local movie industry, but also in the consciousness of international audiences.?
That considered, Santiago said, a second summit, also at the CCP, is being eyed on Nov. 28 ? to discuss distribution, promotion, marketing and exhibition of local films, both indie and mainstream, in the international market. Bayani San Diego Jr.
