Dingdong on K, only last year

MANILA, Philippines - More than a year ago, Dingdong Dantes sat across a Rushes panel for a long chat. We teased him about his face lighting up whenever girlfriend Karylle’s name was mentioned.
His reply: “Really? It’s instinct.” So in love was he, we could see, and when we said Karylle was lucky to have him, he said, “I’m the lucky one.”
What happened? They announced their breakup this week. But here are some other things he said about his beloved “K” and their romance then.
“The main thing [about my daily work as Sergio on ‘Marimar’] is the lack of time. I wouldn’t consider it a problem, but it’s an inconvenient thing [for K and me]. The good thing is that we were able to save up on a lot of bonding time before we both became busy with work.
“We’re prepared for this phase in our lives. We’ve come to accept that there will come a time when we have to concentrate on our work.
“She’s very understanding [and] we’re doing great. I have no complaints. We’re really compatible. We complement one another. There are things that I don’t do that she does well and there are things that I do well that she doesn’t do. And she brings out the best in me.”
(Sigh.)
Reality Hunk’s ‘GF’
On the set of a reality show, Female Contestants were dismayed to learn that Resident Hunk is committed to his GF.
Actually, by “GF” what RH meant was Gay Fashionista. Yup, RH is the boy du jour of a gay fashion designer who was previously linked to an award-winning actor.
Smoke in her eyes
Backstage, Model-Actress was perennially high on weed while doing a comedy play, recalled a spy.
It’s in her eyes, said the source, noting MA’s dilated pupils.
No wonder MA was constantly at odds with her co-stars. Alas, she is also loathed by former classmates because of her arrogance. Smoke gets in her head, too.
Muscleman for hire
His old singing group’s gigs are far from regular, so Muscle Man resorted to turning tricks.
MM is regularly spotted in a Quezon City mall, trolling for gay benefactors.
A mole knows MM’s sob story: He claims he sells his body to buy milk for his baby. Boo-hoo.
Tattletale for hire
This one’s a different sort.
Has-Been Starlet concocts all sorts of intrigues because she gets paid for TV interviews, related a source.
Her previous high jinks included a messy split-up, a manic-depressive episode and, now, a sex scandal.
Once, HS offered Magazine Writer a scoop … for a fee, of course. MW declined.
Kissing cousins
After a night of heavy partying, Bold Star and Matinee Idol found themselves in bed.
Trouble is, BS and MI are cousins. MI was disgusted but BS was unperturbed.
BS knew all along that they were related but she had designs on her cousin from day one, insisted a show biz insider.
K’s a Kapamilya
What was first reported in Rushes last Wednesday was confirmed by the management firm Stages on Thursday: That its talent, Karylle Tatlonghari, has moved to ABS-CBN.
An official statement from Stages related that Karylle’s move came with the blessing of GMA 7 big bosses.
Two of her last projects with the Kapuso network are a guest stint on the game show “Kakasa Ka Ba sa Grade 5” and singing the national anthem at the Manny Pacquiao-Oscar de la Hoya boxing match in Las Vegas on Dec. 6.
News Room resignation
The perceived “battle” between the heads of ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs Maria Ressa and Luchi Cruz-Valdez has resulted in the latter’s resignation.
Valdez was put under preventive suspension prior to her resignation. The rumor that she is moving back to GMA 7 (specifically, its online division) was denied by the same source that confirmed the resignation.
Station ID stars
GMA 7’s Christmas station ID, to be launched on SOP today, features the biggest Kapuso stars with children.
All the scenes—the celebs’ interaction with the kids—are spontaneous; there was no script or story line, says Paul Ticzon, AVP for Post Production Operations and director of the project. And no second takes, he adds.
Says Jessica Soho: “I was told simply to interact with the kids and I did just that, straight from the heart, unmindful of the cameras.”
The full-length version (three and a half minutes) of the station ID, which used the song “Awit ng Puso,” composed by Simon Peter Tan and sung by Julie Ann Jose, will run on SOP.
RP’s very own
Watch out for RP’s version of Paul Potts: Lorenzo, a young, good-looking tenor from Pampanga. He sang for us here, at the PDI newsroom, a few months ago, and we’re glad his career has taken off.
