MANILA, Philippines?Singer Raymond Lauchengco says photography allows him to combine all of his passions.
?A photographer is part director, part set designer, part lighting technician,? he explains.
A self-confessed ?visual person,? Lauchengco first became fascinated with set design and lighting as a teen actor in Repertory Philippines.
In the 1980s, he plunged into photography and pursued it professionally in 1999.
He recalls: ?I?ve been through five cameras ? all of them film. I?ve been a Nikon man since college. But for medium-format, I use Hasselblad.?
He switched to ?digital? this year because he wanted to document every milestone in his baby girl Natalie?s life.
In time for his birthday this month, he is mounting an exhibit dubbed ?Travelscapes? which runs at the Power Plant Mall in Makati from Nov. 17 to 30.
As the title suggests, the collection consists mostly of his journeys ? to Beijing, Carmel and Pinatubo, among others.
?Now that I?ve come back to singing, I get to travel a bit,? he says. ?Doing art shots of different places is very fulfilling. I guess it?s my way of sharing the world?s beauty with others.?
For future exhibits, he hopes to capture ?on film or memory card? such destinations as New Zealand, China and in Europe: Italy, France, Greece and the Czech Republic.
