MANILA, Philippines? No, actress Aiza Marquez insists, she didn?t do an Ellen, a Desiree nor a Nora.
Marquez tells Inquirer Entertainment that, unlike US comic Ellen DeGeneres and local actress Desiree del Valle, she didn?t tie the knot with another woman while in America last year.
Like US-based actress Nora Aunor, Marquez was romantically linked to a lesbian?Del Valle?s former partner, Elaine Crisostomo.
?That?s an old story,? Marquez says. ?I met Elaine when she was with Desiree.?
Del Valle married Crisostomo in Las Vegas in 2002. They later separated. Del Valle is now with comedian Vhong Navarro.
Marquez says Crisostomo was just trying to help her. ?Elaine?s family produces concerts in the US. It?s true that Elaine got remarried last August or September, but to another girl, not me.?
She has nothing against same-sex relationships, Marquez says. She was offended, she points out, by the insinuation that she hooked up with Crisostomo because she was having financial problems.
Last year, Marquez hogged the headlines after she was thrown out of a rented house.
?I?m okay now,? she reports. She recently moved to Quezon City from the suburbs, because ?it?s nearer to the workplace.?
Marquez is in the cast of Bulwagang Gantimpala?s ?Sleeping Beauty? and Arnold Argaño?s indie drama ?Sapi,? which screened last month in SM Cinemas.
In ?Sapi,? she says, she had to look convincing in a child-birth scene. ?People say I look too young. In ?Sapi,? I proved that I could play a married woman.?
But not one married to another woman.
