MANILA, Philippines?Shaina Magdayao raised the subject during the press conference for her new ABS-CBN fantaserye, ?Komiks Presents Mars Ravelo?s Dragonna.?

Casually, she said, ?I?ve learned from my sister?s mistakes.?

Shaina said she picked up the lesson of patience from older sis Vina Morales, who is five months pregnant with her first child by boyfriend Cedric Lee.

?Not to rush love,? she noted. ?To be careful. It?s hard to pick yourself up after you stumble.?

Hastily, she clarified that she doesn?t consider Vina?s condition a ?mistake.?

?My ate has been wanting to have a baby for so long,? Shaina said. ?It would be riskier if she got pregnant [when she?s] older.?

Shaina admitted that it?s been a rough ride for Vina, who had to contend with all sorts of talk, including Cedric?s alleged denial of paternity.

?We heard about that, but we?d rather hear it from him,? said Shaina. ?So far, it?s all hearsay. I also get hurt when my sister gets hurt, but I cannot match the joy other people give her. So I support whatever makes her happy.?

On speculations that Cedric?s wife Judy might take legal action, Shaina would rather take a wait-and-see attitude and ?not jump to conclusions.?

She said the entire Magdayao clan is rallying behind Vina. ?We try our best to shield her from intrigues, to turn every negative into a positive. We are behind her 100 percent and the family considers her baby as another blessing.?

She added that, contrary to public perception, Vina?s fine. ?She just got back from the US [where she had a series of shows]. Her tummy is getting bigger. She?s so matakaw! She?s blooming. She?s happy.?

Exclusively dating

Shaina admitted she cannot imagine herself getting pregnant without the benefit of marriage.

?I?d rather not,? she said. ?But... I?m not perfect; I?m only human.?

Speaking of romance, she set the record straight about John Prats, her partner in Star Cinema?s film fest entry ?Ang Tanging Ina N?yong Lahat.?

?We?re exclusively dating,? she admitted. ?He doesn?t give me problems.?
