Jennifer on John and a dog named Marley

LOS ANGELES, California??It?s an amazing thing to watch a musician think. And it?s wonderful!?

Jennifer Aniston, speaking to reporters at the Casa Del Mar Hotel in Santa Monica, had more to say about her boyfriend, singer-musician John Mayer: ?Yeah, he?s rare. I don?t know many musicians, but that instrument (guitar), when it?s on him, it?s just a channel. It?s something I?ve never seen. He?s an extraordinary musician and it?s wonderful to watch the way his brain works and the way that he thinks. It?s beautiful.?

The actress, who stars with Owen Wilson and a yellow Labrador in ?Marley & Me,? commented about rumors of a ?Friends? reunion show: ?If there?s going to be a reunion, I hope it would be sooner, because remember when ?The Brady Brunch? had a reunion? You were like, ?Whoa, look how old they are (laughter)!? If we do a reunion, I think it would just be for one episode. Courteney (Cox) and I have discussed that. It would be fun because we used to always love our Thanksgiving episodes. We thought those were really fun! Watch, this talk about a reunion is going to be running rampant now.?

In ?Marley & Me,? directed by David Frankel (?The Devil Wears Prada?), Owen is John Grogan, his first role since his apparent suicide attempt last year. ?Owen and I had a ball in this film,? Jennifer shared. ?We had about the best time. We were in glorious locations (Florida and Pennsylvania) with a fantastic group of people, and surrounded by all sorts of beautiful dogs of all ages. We inspired each other, quite frankly.?

Cameo

Filipino-American actor Alec Mapa, who was last seen in Adam Sandler?s ?You Don?t Mess with the Zohan,? has a brief cameo as an irate dog owner who reprimands Owen?s John for bringing an untrained dog to the beach. John wrote the best-selling book of the same title upon which the film is based, where he shared true-to-life events of how Marley, ?the world?s worst dog,? somehow brought out the best in him, his wife, Jenny (Jennifer) and their ever-increasing family.

Jennifer explained her attraction to the material: ?What resonated with me was the journey we took with this couple over 15 years, from the beginning of their life together. They were excited, wide-eyed and bushy-tailed. They have their lives ahead of them, their dreams and plans. You can have plans as my character did. If you have such expectations, you?re bound to have disappointments. It?s about being prepared.?

Did Jennifer cry when she first read the script of this comedy-drama? ?That?s an understatement,? she replied. ?I don?t think I cried like that ever reading a script.?

The great Kathleen Turner has a short cameo as a dog trainer who becomes the target of Marley?s aggressive amorous mood. ?She was a great sport,? Jennifer said of the husky-voiced stage and film actress. ?Look at that outfit she had to wear?and all of that humping (by Marley)! I was like, ?I don?t want to watch that part (laughing). Don?t you wonder how they make a dog do that??

Since Jennifer?s character has one baby after another in the movie, a reporter asked the actress about her motherhood plans. ?I?m asked about motherhood for many years,? she quipped. ?I don?t talk about it.? Then she declared, ?I want to have children, like I?ve said before. That?s my plan.?

When another writer asked if she understands why three years after her divorce from Brad Pitt, people are still talking and writing about that split, Jennifer said, ?No, I don?t understand it. I?m baffled by it! It absolutely makes no sense to me.?

On money, Jennifer, who is ranked as one of the richest women in entertainment, stressed: ?It?s so not a conscious part of my life. Money is something I don?t think about?like I don?t wake up in the morning, stretch my arms and go, ?Oh, I?m wealthy!? I know that I?m extremely fortunate. I have the good fortune to be able to take care of people in my family, or to give to causes that matter to me. I feel fortunate that I?m able to contribute in ways that not everybody can, and not in a way that family or friends can take advantage of, because that can get tricky, too.?

Among the causes she believes in and donates to are St. Jude Children?s Research Hospital, Doctors Without Borders and The Rape Treatment Foundation.

After Jennifer recited what she does to help make the planet greener, a journalist followed up by asking if she travels on commercial planes, or if she has her own jet. Without missing a beat, Jennifer quipped to laughter: ?I don?t have a private plane. Does that make you feel better??

Asked what she doesn?t like about show business, Jennifer answered, ?There aren?t many. I love the movie business. But, there?s a lot of fear. Some folks are afraid to just tell people straight. People sometimes think that actors are more delicate, so they?re not as honest. And, I don?t like how folks categorize people. They put you in a category, and they?ll say you are this or that person. It?s almost like they sit there and wait for you to prove yourself. Other than that, it?s really a great job!?

Possibilities

She became enthused when a reporter inquired about the things she still wants to accomplish. The actress mused, ?Oh my God, endless. Travel. I want to experience the world. I have not traveled as much as I want to. I?ve gone on press junkets but then, they were so short, so it was like being teased with the world. I don?t get to spend time in those places. There are things I want to explore doing other than acting and producing?something outside of my comfort zone. I could go on forever. My appetite?s almost insatiable for what the possibilities are.?

At home, she does try to tinker in the kitchen, she volunteered: ?I do cook. I?m not saying if you?d like what I cook or not but (laughter) yeah, I cook. I have a chef who comes in a couple of times a week.? And, she does love to buy homes and furnish them. ?I decorate,? she added. ?I?ve just decorated a new house, and it?s very eclectic. It?s different from my last house, but I like to evolve as I go along. My home is extremely comfortable. It?s very cozy, because I?m there a lot.?

Judging from the way she described her two pets, they?re not the world?s worst dogs. ?I have Norman and Dolly,? she shared. ?Norman is 13 years old, so he?s getting to that place but he?s young at heart. He is a Corgi-Terrier-Australian Shepherd so he?s short, with the hair of a terrier and the piercing blue eyes of an Australian Shepherd. Dolly, who is 2 years old, is a white German Shepherd.?
