MANILA, Philippines?Actress Assunta de Rossi has denied the rumor that she had broken up with her husband, former Negros Occidental Rep. Jules Ledesma, adding that they just celebrated their sixth wedding anniversary last month.
?All is well between us. We?re both committed to preserving this relationship. I don?t have to explain anything to anyone. My obligation is to God and to the person I exchanged marriage vows with,? the actress told Inquirer Entertainment on Wednesday.
The rumor came out shortly after actresses Iza Calzado and Jolina Magdangal confirmed splitting up with boyfriends Jerry Garcia and Bebong Muñoz, respectively, during the holidays.
At the press conference for her TV show ?U Women,? Assunta pleaded movie scribes to stop writing about the rumor. ?We?re together. ?Yun pa rin naman ang sasabihin ko sa inyo. (That will still be my answer.).?
She said they celebrated their anniversary in Negros, in time for the blessing of the Ledesma?s ethanol plant there. ?We threw a party for the people who worked at the ethanol plant,? she added.
No perfect relationship
Assunta went on to say that there?s no such thing as a ?perfect relationship.? ?My mommy tells me that she and daddy have been married for almost 26 years but they still have petty fights.?
The Fil-Italian actress said they celebrated Christmas with Jules? kids Cristina, 16, and Carlos, 6, in Manila because her husband was too busy with work. ?We didn?t have time to go abroad so we just checked in a hotel and stayed there for five days,? she said.
She said she hopes to have a baby with Jules this year. ?I leave everything to God. Maybe he does not want me to get pregnant yet kasi wala pa kaming sariling bahay. This year, if Jules finishes all his obligations to his clan, maybe we can start a new chapter in our marriage in a house that?s our own.? Until the baby comes, Assunta said she would keep herself busy with show biz commitments.
Assunta is part of ?U Women,? the local franchise of the French TV show ?Vous Less Femmes,? that will premiere on QTV 11 tomorrow. Directed by Mark Meily, it is also from the makers of five-minute comedy show ?Camera Cafe.? It will air on weekdays at 10:05 a.m., 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.
?Working on the show is physically draining. We start at 7 in the morning. We transfer from one location to another and we use a lot of props and costumes,? the actress said.
?U Women? also stars Candy Pangilinan, Tuesday Vargas, Kalila Aguilos, Christian Vasquez, Arnold Reyes and Gerhard Acao.
