MANILA, Philippines?Diether Ocampo will remain a Kapamilya after all.

Ocampo has abandoned a plan to cross over to rival GMA 7 and will stay in ?the network [ABS-CBN] and Star Magic [ABS-CBN?s talent management arm],? an ABS-CBN network executive said on condition of anonymity in a text message to the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

The actor is set to renew his contract with ABS-CBN soon, the executive further said.

Ocampo negotiated with GMA 7 late last year on a possible transfer. This was confirmed by GMA 7 Senior Vice President for Entertainment Wilma Galvante, who said Ocampo approached the network as an ?independent artist.?

GMA 7 had planned to cast Ocampo in the Philippine adaptation of the Koreanovela ?All About Eve? this year.

When news broke about his planned transfer, Star Magic immediately issued a statement that Ocampo was still under contract with ABS-CBN and that it trusted Ocampo will ?make the right choice.?

Ocampo spent his entire 13-year career as a contract artist of ABS-CBN. He last appeared in the Kapamilya primetime drama ?Iisa Pa Lamang? opposite Claudine Barretto and Gabby Concepcion.
