Dollywood
Dingdong wants end to Abunda-Belo row

MANILA, Philippines?Dingdong Dantes refuses to be dragged into the controversy hounding Vicki Belo and Boy Abunda, even if his name was mentioned by Vicki as a Belo endorser. The rift stemmed from Vicki?s remark, ?If you want to look like Boy Abunda, go to Calayan. But if you want to look like Dingdong Dantes and Piolo Pascual, go to Belo.?

?I do not want to get in the middle of their misunderstanding,? says Dong. ?I?m sure it will be resolved even without my opinion. I just want peace for everybody.?

I checked on Vicki and Boy after the issue broke out. Vicki texted back: ?I?m off to the US for a conference. It will be good to be away from all this.? Boy?s text read: ?This, too, will pass.?
In their case, does beauty lie in the B(Belo)-holder or the C(Calayan)-holder?

Bianca?s new flame

Night owls on the prowl insist Bianca Gonzales? new love is the owner of the trendy club Fiamma?Carlo Trillo. So reconciliation with Direk Lino Cayetano is out of the question. Bianca must be thrilled to be Trillo?s queen!

Second time around

Monday is a red-letter day for me and other awardees of Gawad Tanglaw, an academe-based award-giving body that honors achievers in various fields of the arts. I am deeply honored to be named Best Entertainment Columnist for the second year in a row.

When I receive my award this afternoon at the University of Perpetual Help?Las Piñas, I will dedicate it to you, my loyal readers, for believing me and believing in me; to my kids Bianchi and IC for being my major source of strength and inspiration; and to my late great mom Inday Badiday for all the lessons she continues to teach me even now that she?s physically gone. My profuse thanks to Dr. Jaime Ang, Dr. Flaviano Lirio and the rest of the Gawad Tanglaw family for the vote of confidence. A Gawad Tanglaw award is sweeter the second time around.

Missing scene

Careline cosmetics? new endorser Sarah Geronimo is too cute in ?You Changed My Life.? Some quarters say she kinda went over the top in her acting. But I guess her role calls for it since she portrays a young and naïve woman who?s hopelessly in love with her boss, played by John Lloyd Cruz.

Sarah has her reasons why she still didn?t have a kissing scene with Loydie even if they were lovers in the movie. But sooner or later, the pop princess must pucker up lest she gets stuck in the same safe mold.

Missing in action

John Lloyd Cruz, Matet, Gio Alvarez and the cast of ?You Changed My Life? were spotted having a mini-victory party at Bugsy?s. I?m not surprised that Sarah was missing in action. Her mom watches over her like a hawk and she?s not allowed to party after work. A good girl ought to have some ?good time,? too.

One last time

Relive Eraserheadsmania one last time at the ?Eraserheads Live! The Final Set? on March 7 at the Mall of Asia concert grounds. (Call 9115555 or log on to www.mtvphil.com.) A source says Ely Buendia signed a contract stating that the March 7 concert is, indeed, the band?s last performance in the Philippines as the E-heads, for the next 10 years. Looking forward to an awesome concert that will never be erased in the minds of Eraserheads fanatics!

Summer cruise

Celebrate summer on board the 7107 Islands Cruise Ship. Join the cruise to enchanted Coron, Palawan on March 5-9 and have a picnic in Ditaytay and Malcapuya Islands, stopover at the hot springs of Maquinit, snorkeling at the twin lagoons and climbing of Mt. Tapyas. (Call 7528255 or log on to www.islandscruise.net.) All aboard the hip, hip ship!
