MANILA, Philippines?Whenever comedian Mike Nacua goes on a shopping spree, he always buys for two?for Pekto and Cookie.
Pekto and Cookie are his quirky TV characters?the former as Carmina Villaroel?s male co-host in the reality/lifestyle show ?Day Off? on QTV 11, and the latter as part of the comic trio ?Cookie, Belli and Boobay? in the gag show ?Joey?s Quirky World? on GMA 7.
?Pekto goes for the really casual getup. That?s what?s required of him in ?Day Off?,? Mike told Living Stars during a visit to his home in Novaliches, Quezon City. ?Cookie, on the other hand, likes to dress up fabulous and sexy.?
Cookie and Belli (portrayed by John Feir) were first seen in the now-defunct comedy show ?Nuts Entertainment,? also on the Kapuso network. Norman Balbuena plays Boobay.
Mike said he consults his wife Em for outfits that look well on Cookie. ?Since Em and I are of the same size in clothes and shoes, I ask her to try stuff on when we?re at the mall. Nakakahiya kasi ?pag ako. If it fits her, it fits Cookie,? Mike explained.
Pekto?s tops
I own a couple of riding (motorbike) jackets but this black mesh jacket is the most memorable. It?s what I wore when my motorbike crashed during a trip to Zambales.
I still keep my long-sleeved buttoned-down shirts although I prefer wearing cotton T-shirts on a regular day. I find use for them during tapings for ?Day Off.?
Cookie?s tops
I bought Bellie an off-shoulder knitted top just like this. Only hers is black while mine is pink. We also have an identical stripped dress. My current favorite is the silver mini-dress. Pang Beyonce-effect ito.
Pekto?s bottoms
I prefer cargo pants. I like it that they have a lot of pockets. My most memorable pair of blue jeans is from Quicksilver from Dubai. I thought I got it cheap but when I had the price converted to Philippine pesos, I found out napamahal pala ako. Kaya minahal ko na rin s?ya.
Pekto?s accessories
I hardly use belts these days. If I have to, I wear a black leather belt. You should buy items that are dual-purpose, something that can be worn both in casual or formal gatherings.
I don?t go out of the house without a watch; I feel incomplete. I like those that are sporty. I go for comfort and functionality.
Cookie?s accessories
I look for beaded necklaces and bracelets wherever I go. I like them bright and colorful. It doesn?t really matter if most of them are cheap. What?s important is one?s ability to mix and match.
I have short hair, so most of my wigs are low-maintenance. I just soak them in water with fabric conditioner for a few minutes and let them dry.
Pekto?s suits
I?ve worn this suit in a lot of award ceremonies (shows a gray pin-striped piece). I chose this fabric because it?s supposed to look elegant and expensive.
Cookie?s scent
Curve has the sweet scent that I like. I love the reaction I get from people when they smell this on me.
Pekto?s shoes
I like rubber shoes. This pair of Adidas running shoes is memorable because I wore it in an ?Extra Challenge? show. I walked in water with it. Now it has molds.
My favorite pair of riding boots (Puma) is from Dubai. I don?t think Puma shops here sell it.
Cookie?s shoes
I own a few stilettoes. My current favorite is my new pair of gladiator sandals. It?s not as painful as it looks.
Pekto?s hats
I like wearing cowboy hats. I bought pieces in different provinces like Cebu and Davao.
Cookie?s hats
I seldom wear them, but I love the hats with fake flowers on them. They?re perfect for summer.
Pekto?s Airsoft gears and toys
Airsoft is an expensive hobby. You need to have a mask, a full BDU (battle dress uniform), a vest and a pair of tactical boots. I own four toy guns?the newest is the Tokyo Marui AK47. It?s powerful and kind of pricey.
