SHARON CUNETA GOES BACK TO basics in two new albums she is set to launch under Sony-BMG. The first is ?Children?s Rhymes and Lullabies?; the second, a yet-untitled OPM collection.
Album producer Eloisa Matias said Cuneta first thought of a children?s album when daughter Frankie was born nine years ago. Among the cuts are educational and playtime songs and lullabies.
An early favorite is a medley of folk songs -- ?Pen-Pen de Sarapen,? ?Pakitong-Kitong,? and ?Paru-Parong Bukid.?
In the OPM album, Cuneta worked with arranger-musicians like Jay Durias, Nyoy Volante and Marvin Querido.
?The idea is for the artists to rearrange their own songs,? Matias said.
And there are also fresh spins on Joel Navarro?s ?Suwerte, Suwerte Lang? and Gary Valenciano?s ?Heto Na Naman.?
Matias said, ?Sharon wants to make these old favorites sound new.? -- Bayani San Diego Jr.
