Friend: Dulce would rather see Pops back with Martin
MARINEL Cruz spoke with the best friend of Pops Fernandez?s mother, Dulce Lukban and discovered some very intriguing stuff:
?Like any mother, she is very protective of her daughter. If she had her way, she wanted Pops to reconcile with Martin,? Aster Amoyo, entertainment journalist and Lukban?s closest friend for almost 30 years, told Cruz.
Pops (as we all know, like it or not) just broke up with her boyfriend of four years, actor and new concert producer Jomari Yllana.
Inquirer sought an interview with Lukban?since Fernandez had flown to the US for a concert (Only In Hollywood, page I1), but the singer?s assistant told Cruz in a text message, ?Ayaw po ni Pops. Sorry talaga.?
Amoyo was very confident about her own observations: ?Among Pops? loved ones, Dulce was the most affected by the breakup.? She said she met Lukban in 1981, when Fernandez first became an artist of OctoArts Records.
Amoyo added: ?Dulce used to tell me that she [was] praying for Pops and Martin to get back together because they have kids (Robin and Ram), and [also because] she [herself] came from a broken family and did not wish [it on] her kids or grandchildren.?
Lukban has remained good friends with Martin?s mom, Conchita Razon, Amoyo said, and also ?got along fine? with Yllana. ?Of course, we don?t know [right now] what?s on Dulce?s mind. But Pops is already of age, anyway.?
Fernandez and Yllana broke up two weeks after their pre-Valentine show, ?Missing You,? at the Big Dome, which the latter produced.
According to Amoyo, Fernandez was excited about the gig because she had not performed onstage with Nievera for over five years, and because she ?wanted to help? Yllana.
Amoyo refused to elaborate. ?It?s difficult to talk about what I know. The breakup was a surprise to me, too. They were very much in love.?

?GMA Network is very disappointed with the reported decision of Manny Pacquiao to transfer from Solar Sports (a block timer with GMA 7) to ABS-CBN the rights to broadcast his fight with Ricky Hatton on May 2, 2009 and his other [succeeding] fights.?
More: ?Manny Pacquiao has a separate contract with GMA Network which prohibits him from appearing on ?any television program, show, promotion or event of any other broadcast media entity other than GMA and its subsidiaries and affiliates without the written consent of GMA.? GMA has not given him its consent to appear in ABS-CBN.?
Plus a not-so-veiled threat: ?Aside from his two existing programs [on GMA 7]??Pinoy Records? and ?Totoy Bato,? GMA Entertainment offered projects to Manny ? [including] his own sitcom, a drama series, concerts in Las Vegas and Los Angeles ? and in key cities in Canada and boxing clinics around the Philippines. The network may have to review these now in light of the recent developments.?
