MANILA, Philippines?Manila Police District (MPD) operatives accosted before dawn on Tuesday former actor Dranreb Belleza for the alleged illegal use of a siren on a vehicle reportedly owned by the Estrada family.

Belleza, 39, of Aglipay Street, Diliman, Quezon City, was hours later released from the custody of the MPD Ermita police station 5 after he was charged with illegally using a siren on a Toyota Revo with license plates XDP-381.

The vehicle, Land Transportation Office (LTO) records reveal, is registered under JELP Real Estate Development Corporation with address at 1 Polk Street, North Greenhills in San Juan, former president Joseph Estrada?s home.

His companion and driver Jaime Evangelio, 58, who gave his address also at 1 Polk Street, claimed Belleza ordered and insisted for him to use the siren installed on the sports utility vehicle to drive away people staying at the Plaza Rajah Sulayman in Malate.

The MPD station 5 commander, Superintendent Rogelio Rosales said that Belleza was released after the incident, which happened at around 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, was placed on record and he was formally charged for the violation.

?It is a petty criminal offense so he does not need to be detained for that,? Rosales explained.

Belleza and Evangelio were accosted by operatives of the MPD District Mobile Patrol Unit (DMPU) who chanced upon them while allegedly using the siren. Although he was charged for the offense, the former actor denied the accusation.
