MANILA, Philippines -- The Quezon City prosecutor?s office has junked the oral defamation complaint filed against actress Amalia Fuentes in 2008 by the half brother of her estranged husband, Joey Stevens.
In a one-page resolution, assistant city prosecutor Edwin Valdez dismissed the case filed against Fuentes (Amalia Muhlach Stevens in real life), for allegedly calling Jeric Stevens an ?addict.?
Valdez pointed out that the word ?addict? alone was not slanderous.
?The word addict alone is not slanderous per se. One may be addicted to something not bad like chocolates, texting, etc. In short, the complained word is innocuous standing alone,? the assistant city prosecutor said.
