HOME BODY
Pauleen’s paradise

MANILA, Philippines?Actress-TV host Pauleen Luna considers her home a refuge from the hustle and bustle of show business.

?My work can be stressful,? she notes. ?My room is the best spot to go to when I?m dead tired.?

She considers her bed ?heaven.?

?I?m pretty lazy in the morning; I?m more of a night person,? she admits.

However, she has given up nocturnal gimiks with friends.

Pauleen explains, ?After a while I got bored. You see the same people. You do the same things.?

Now, she?s a certified homebody. ?When I?m not busy with work, it?s either I?m at home lang or I hang out in Ruby?s house,? she relates.

Ruby is ?Eat Bulaga? co-host Ruby Rodriguez who lives in a nearby village in Quezon City.

Pigging out

Instead of bar-hopping, she?d rather invite friends over. ?We pig out. We watch DVDs of chick flicks like ?The Sweetest Thing? and ?Sex and the City.? Clean, wholesome fun.?

She spends a lot of time in her ?small, simple room??her paradise.

She plans to renovate the room this year. ?I practically grew up in this house. We moved in 15 years ago, but the last time we had my room fixed was when I was 13.?

That was seven years ago.

Fortunately, mom Chat is an interior designer by profession.

?I?ll ask my mom to create a minimalist and modern look for me,? she says. ?Something clean and refreshing.?

That?s how she envisions her dream house, too.

It will be the opposite of the family home, which was also designed by mom.

?Our house sports a European look, very elegant. I want my dream home to have all-white walls with brown borders.?

One thing she?d retain from the old house are its cushy, beige sofas.

Home spa

Next project for Pauleen and mom Chat is to turn the lanai into a massage room.

?We both love going to spas,? Pauleen says.

Her mom took up Fine Arts in Sienna College and would decorate the house every Halloween and Christmas.

?When I was young, she forced my brother Miguel and I to join Halloween costume contests in the neighborhood,? Pauleen recalls. ?It was embarrassing. I was already 13 and she was still dressing me up.?

Mom Chat recounts that her most memorable creations for Pauleen were ?Jungle Girl? and ?Galactica? costumes.

?As Jungle Girl, she made me carry a headless chicken with fake blood. As Galactica, I looked like Queen Amidala from ?Star Wars.? She made everything from scratch.?

Pauleen says her mom loves sprucing up the house every so often. Dad Euge nio, for his part, is proud of his extensive collection of model toy cars displayed in the TV room.

Accidental designer

Mom Chat relates that she got into interior design by accident.

A friend asked her to do a home improvement project.

?Before she knew it, one client led to another?including late NBI head Reynaldo Wycoco who saw my mom?s work in my classmate?s house,? Pauleen says with pride.
